In 1996-97, Pinnacle became the new home to Be A Player (BAP), and for the first time the set was licensed by both the NHL and the NHLPA. Autographs were seeded 1:1 pack, with parallel silver foil autographs seeded 1:__ packs. The autograph card faces match the non-autographed base set cards, while the card backs feature a certificate of authenticity. This product was released in two waves, with cards numbered 1-110 available in Series 1 and cards numbered 111-220 available in Series 2.

This 20-card diecut set featured ten pairs of cards with each card in the pair distinguished by a letter suffix (i.e. 10a and 10b). The card pairs were cut in a specific way so that they could be linked together.
