One of my most looked-forward to releases each year is Upper Deck SP Authentic. Chief among its many highlights is the Future Watch subset comprised of hard-signed on-card autographs of the NHL's top rookies. These cards are serial-numbered out of 999 and generally considered amongst the most desirable rookie cards available, chased by set builders, rookie card collectors and autograph hounds alike. There are a lot of great young players featured in this particular 62 card subset, with my two favourites being (as you might expect) Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers.
SET STATUS: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! After working on this set for about a year-and-a-half, I acquired the last card necessary to complete it on February 19, 2013. (The final card: 295 Jeff Skinner.) Apart from the 2001-02 Upper Deck SP Authentic Future Watch autograph set which featured just six players, this was the first Future Watch set that I ever attempted -- let alone managed -- to put together. |
