One of my most looked-forward to releases each year is Upper Deck SP Authentic. Chief among its many highlights is the Future Watch subset comprised of hard-signed on-card autographs of the NHL's top rookies. These cards are serial-numbered out of 999 and generally considered amongst the most desirable rookie cards available, chased by set builders, rookie card collectors and autograph hounds alike. The decision to include the rookies appearing in the lock-out shorted season in next year's releases reduced the 2012-13 SP Authentic Future Watch subset to just 25 cards, the smallest field that's appeared in years.
SET STATUS: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! The final card for this set, the long-outstanding 217 Reilly Smith redemption, arrived in the mail from Upper Deck on May 16, 2016. There was a span of more than 25 months from the date I redeemed the card online (April 21, 2014) until it was delivered. |
