The Gruenwald Institute for the Study of Fictional Reality is dedicated to the exploration of the omniversal theory of comics advanced by Mark Gruenwald (1953-1996) in such works as A Primer on Reality in Comic Books, A Treatise on Reality in Comic Literature, and Omniverse: The Journal of Fictional Reality.

In light of Mr. Gruenwald's many contributions to the comic arts and his pioneering efforts in this field, the Institute has been so named in his honor.
